About Dan Mcbride
I am a very experienced A2/Above Average helicopter instructor, with over 22years experience of teaching single and multi-national students. Most recently served for 6 years on the World renowned CFS(H) Sqn teaching helicopter instructors/QHIs, again from all nationalities. Also has an in depth experience of ab-initio helicopter flying training. I have always been a highly self motivated, personable character who can integrate in any environment, whether it be on multi-national operations or in a social environment. I have a wealth of credible military operational single and twin engine helicopter flying experience and survived a near fatal mid-air collision while on operations in 1992, furthering my desire to promote flight safety. While I am very well qualified as both a single and twin engine helicopter instructor (6000 hours single and twin engine), I am also hugely experienced in command appointments responsible for overseeing, coordinating and conducting bespoke assessments for training. As the DCI of DHFS. I have a lot of experience of dealing with other Nations helicopter flying training requirements and worked with diplomacy, safety and efficiency when managing expectations. At heart I am a keen a team player, which has led to a passion for Services offshore sailing, which is a means of introducing and mentoring junior members of HM Forces to sailing. I skippered the AAC Boat in the Army Offshore Regatta in 2015, which won many classes with a novice crew and was the Mate on the 2015 RYA Fastnet Race. Basically, I am a hugely self motivated and driven individual who is a keen family man, I am more than happy to take on any lead role but also enjoy being part of an effective, efficient and safe team (as long as we all want to win!).
