I lead the Endpoint Services team within the North Dakota University System's Core Technologies Services group. My team's primary responsibilities include is managing the endpoints for the NDUS System Office and CTS employees. We also have duties relating to Microsoft's Office365 and Azure platforms, Polycom videoconferencing technologies, and other collaboration tools.
In this position I managed the technology environment for NDSCS-Fargo at the STTC. Besides the servers and infrastructure, I also managed user machines and software, and worked directly with staff, students and external clients. I also served as the STTC in-house Microsoft Certified Trainer. My primary training activites revolved around Active Directory, Virtualization and SQL server.
At GOLDMARK I served as the department manager as well as the senior network and server engineer. This included planning, purchasing, installing and supporting an install base of about 10 servers and 250 end user computers across 6 states. I also was in charge of personnel decisions, performance reviews and day to day management of the IT staff.
I spent 10 months traveling for SEI as a trainer and engineer on a rollout of Exchange Server / Outlook. We were in charge of replacing Lotus Notes servers throughout Western Europe, and then training users on the use of the new email system.

I started as an "app trainer" teaching courses on Word and Excel. When we wanted to become a Microsoft official training center I took the certification exams on NT4.0 and Windows 95, and was accepted into the Microsoft Certified Trainer program. I then split my time between teaching Exchange 5.5 / SQL 7.0 / NT and working as a systems engineer implementing those technologies for our clients.
