I am the main City contact for all things relating to current planning and development, as well as long range planning. Duties include:1. Oversee development applications (conditional use permits, variances, rezonings, subdivisions), taking them through the City approval process. I present these agenda items at Planning Commission and City Council meetings, making a recommendation to those bodies, and then completing any post-approval steps that need to be taken.2. Am the City's main contact for station area planning for the Blue Line LRT Extension (Bottineau LRT), which will have 13 stations in the northwest metropolitan area. The line is due to open in 2021. My task was to work with City officials and residents, Hennepin County and Metro Transit to create a plan for land use within a half mile radius of the proposed Bass Lake Road station in Crystal. The creation of the plan involved meeting with various stakeholders, City decision makers, and the general public to obtain their input. 3. Wrote a floodplain ordinance for Crystal as required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the MN DNR. Task involved obtaining input and decisions from the general public, affected property owners, the Planning Commission and the City Council.

St. Paul, Minnesota

This land use planning position was funded for one year, and these are the projects I worked on:1. Served on the project team to create rules and regulations for the Mississippi River Corridor Critical Area (MRCCA), a 72-mile stretch of the river in the Twin Cities. The MRCCA is also a national park, and the goal of the project is to improve the long term quality of the river. Position involves a great deal of stakeholder management. 2. Worked with the State's Floodplain Manager to provide advice and assistance to Minnesota Counties and Cities in their adoption of updated floodplain ordinances. 3. Project coordinator for the organization, scanning, and archiving of documents for the DNR's land use programs (i.e. floodplain, shoreland, wild & scenic river, MRCCA, and Lower St. Croix River). Creating a digital archive is a state-wide project, and involves training staff on procedures to identify and prep documents for archiving.

Woodbury, Minnesota

1. Prepared and presented reports, with recommendations, for meeting agenda items at Planning Commission meetings. These items included PUDs, CUPs, Subdivisions, Rezonings, and Site Plans2. Worked with developers to create commercial and residential building projects. Duties includedmeeting to discuss City requirements, reviewing the plans for conformance with City Codes, and writing reports to explain to the Commission and City Council the specifics of the proposal. 3. Chestermere, Alberta, Canada

I worked as a planner on a temporary work permit (through NAFTA) for a growing suburb of Calgary, Alberta. My duties included:1. Completed a project management manual for City staff to more effectively and efficiently use City resources in completing projects 2. Project manager for the development of a mixed-used master plan for a 2,200 acre greenfield parcel3. Overseeing the creation of a natural resources inventory, including wetlands, for the undeveloped areas of town4. Coordinating with other municipalities to develop a regional stormwater plan to accommodate development for the next 50+ years5. Planning for the future extension of public utility infrastructure so that newly annexed areas can be serviced.

Duties included:• Served as project manager for the revision of the current Land Development Regulations. The concurrent revision of this document is being completed through conventional zoning practices, as well as Form-Based Codes. • Brought the current Comprehensive Plan to completion in 2008, after extensive review by the Planning Commission, City Council, various Boards and Commissions, and the public.• Prepared and presented reports for meeting agenda items at City Council, Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and Heritage Preservation Commission meetings. • Served as a member of the Development Review Committee (DRC) staff, which reviews all land use applications. Met with applicants prior to and after submittal of applications, and attended neighborhood meetings to discuss projects. • Completed review of PUD, CUP, Rezoning, Subdivision,Variance, and Sign applications for conformance to Zoning Code. Coordinate review of all development applications with other City departments. • Reviewed and revised Subdivision and Zoning Code regulations such as minor subdivision processes, residential setbacks, floodplain ordinance, shoreland ordinance, and wild and scenic river ordinance.• Answered resident and business community inquiries on the land development process.

Golden Valley, Minnesota

Duties included:• Prepare and present reports for meeting agenda items at City Council, Planning Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals meetings. • Served as a member of the Golden Valley Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) staff.• Complete review of PUD, CUP, Rezoning, Subdivision, and Variance applications for conformance to Zoning Code. Coordinate review of all development applications with other City departments. • Review and revise City and Zoning Code regulations such as residential setbacks, sign code, telecommunications, adult uses, and day care. • Answered resident and business community inquiries on the land development process. • Plan, coordinate and execute City events, including annual Home Remodeling Fair held in conjunction with three neighboring cities and three school districts, and City Open House. • Create development review procedures to coordinate site plan review among Planning, Engineering, and Building.

Lauderdale, Minnesota
