Everyone at Amundson SUP has been involved in the watersports industry for decades. By growing up around lakes, rivers and oceans, we developed a relationship with the water and a desire to venture out onto it on whatever craft was at hand. For some of us it was small boats, for others surfboards and windsurfers. But in the end, it didn’t matter what, we just wanted to get out there. So when SUP came along, we jumped right on board, it was a natural. John Amundson was making custom SUP boards in Hawaii well before any production boards were available. But he quickly realized this wasn’t the best technology for such big boards. Instead he now spends his time developing new designs for this evolving sport. He gets feedback from our network of dealers and customers, and innovates new and exciting ways to paddle over water. We then take these proven designs and manufacture them in Thailand, using the best technology in the industry. Our high pressure and high temperature molds create a composite construction that has the best combination of weight, durability, and value on the water. Amundson SUP has partnered with Aquaglide for SUP manufacturing. Aquaglide headquarters are in White Salmon, Washington, on the banks of the Columbia River. All management is centered here, with US warehousing both here and on the east coast, and at several distributors overseas. We may not be the biggest brand in the industry, and that is not our goal. But we take great pride in our product, and have been working hard since 2007 to improve everyone’s experience on the water. In that time we have been fortunate to earn thousands of happy customers who appreciate what we do, and support us with their feedback and stories.

In the early 1990’s a man by the name of Brian Whitty approached three local surfers from the Northern Beaches of Sydney with a brainwave; removable surfboard fins.Removable fins would make traveling easier, allow surfers to change their fin setup to suit varying conditions, and more importantly, give them the opportunity to change the performance of their surfboard simply by using a different fin template.In order for this brainwave to become a reality there would have to be a way to secure the fins to the board. Over the preceding months the idea was transformed into a reality and FCS was born. This would eventually become a pinnacle moment in surfing history. FCS stands for Fin Control System, and this six plug configuration would change the face of surfing.FCS fins were introduced to the Australian market in 1992 and released globally in 1994. The first FCS fin plug was patented shortly after the global release and it quickly became the world standard for removable fins. To this day FCS is the strongest, most successful, and also the most widely used surfboard fin system in the world.Since its global release in 1994, 30 ASP World Titles and countless events have been won riding the FCS fin system. No other system can lay claim to a single ASP World Title in either the men’s, women’s, junior's, or longboard divisions. The success of FCS is a testament to its advantages over other fin systems, this includes traditional fixed fins as well.
