As Head of Content at Working Voices, I'm the editor of the Insights section of the company's website. Working to CEO Nick Smallman, I produce content offering WV's expert opinion on relevant issues. I shoot interviews with politicians, writers, psychologists and campaigners; I write, produce and direct short documentaries; I write accompanying blogs and articles and I edit content from colleagues. Before joining Working Voices, I was a journalist for eight years with BBC local radio and BBC News. Later moving into television, I was the Head of Research at Dangerous Films where I focused on factual dramas. I worked with Neil Armstrong and the crew of Apollo 11, with D-Day veterans and with 9/11 survivors, among others. After Dangerous, I worked with David Heyman and David Yates (producer and director of Harry Potter/ Fantastic Beasts) and with Peter Kosminsky (director, Wolf Hall). I'm the author of three books, (published by the BBC 2004, National Maritime Museum 2006 and Random House 2009) and I like to spend my free time vainly pleading with my kids to get off the Xbox and come hiking or cycling with me.
