Through a combination of policy, advocacy, and community engagement, I work to advance Trout Unlimited's goals of protecting public lands, restoring watershed health, and maintaining populations of native fish and wildlife throughout New Mexico, especially in those parts of the state where you can find cold water streams and native trout.

I conducted research on the behavior of individuals living in wildfire prone landscapes in Central Oregon - specifically, I used survey data to analyze what specific actions individuals take to reduce the risk of damage to their homes and property, as well as which factors influence wildfire preparedness. Conclusions: previous experience with wildfire, wildfire preparedness of one's neighbors, and obtaining information from trusted sources increase the likelihood of taking additional steps to mitigate risk of wildfire damage. Additional thoughts: we're still a long way from building fire resilient communities in the rural west, but community wildfire preparedness programs are vital.
