There is something fascinating, and oddly satisfying about looking at a chemical specification (or developing one) and understanding the Why? – Why all the elements are at the limits they are to develop the desired microstructure & performance levels and then being able to validate this in a labLikewise, I get an unbelievable amount of satisfaction from being able to look at equations governing metallurgical processes, relating them to real-life operations, identifying gaps in assumptions, framing discussions around them, and then doing something to affect the process. More than just a metallurgist…Experienced with quality management systems, FMEA’s, auditing, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, engineering requirement writing and data management & communication. I’m a big believer in using these processes and wider IT solutions to deliver efficiency, clarity of message and help embed developed processes & solutions within an organisation. In my experience, I’ve always found that doing this pays off in the long-term freeing up resource & energy to focus on the delivery of the core strategy.
