MANCAT have made use of a range of my skills including; financial management, I advise on budget expenditure and liaise with finance departments and external suppliers; set building and design;construction and placement of theatre flats and theatre lighting within health and safety regulations;providing technical assistance to visiting theatre companies .stage and lighting expertise used for all in-house theatre and music productions (familiar with programmable and standard lighting desks); the provision of technical support for external music productions such as at Zion Arts Centre;computer and technical support to students and staff on all computer platforms, with a specialist knowledge of professional software packages; space and resource management, I have developed an equipment control system for the college students and staff;installation of software and operating systems on Mac and PC computers;excellent communication skills, I work with a diverse range of people from senior management to students to visiting theatre companies and have developed the ability to communicate effectively with all groups.My current role requires me to have a full working knowledge of all aspects of live sound and studio recording processes and equipment. I service and maintain several music studios, performance rooms and teaching areas and have the responsibility of the security of equipment and risk assessment within all of the rooms and spaces. I undertake risk assessments on live events involving a public audience; this involves continual assessment in an unpredictable and changing environment. The process of developing the label has enabled me to liaise with a range of music industry professionals and arts funding bodies; I developed the label steering development group and advisory board consisting of industry professionals such as Frank Lea, director of Trojan Records and Scott Burnham, Creative Director of Urbis and managed three successful funding proposals from The Arts Council and The Performing Rights Society.I have managed several projects for the record label utilising a range of my skills including recording and producing bands, tour management, developing industry links, liaising with venues, promoters and booking agents, live sound engineering, management of a team of staff and financial management. I have worked with over 200 bands from the North West in the past 15 years.In running the recent ‘recording, release, touring and mentoring scheme’ for artists (titled ‘Made In Manchester’ and funded by Arts Council NW), I have:provided direction, creative advice, support, resources and opportunities for bands and artistsdeveloped a solid infrastructure of people based locally who have specialist expertise in aspects of the release process (such as radio plugging, venue contacts and graphic and web design)developed a network of national and international contacts including venue contacts, promoters and industry contactsdeveloped digital sales contracts with iTunes, HMV and Virgin, O2, Vodaphone and the new Di-format technology released 20 singles and over 10 albums internationally.tour managed and promoted 100’s of gigs and events. Over the past 10years I was heavily involved with a new music industry event called UNCONVENTION where my main role was events/technical management. The one event I am most proud of, and I see as the most successful, was an event called ‘Unconvention Factory’. This event won Manchester’s CITY LIFE event of the year in 2010.
