Director Of Spiritual Care
CurrentTo support and advocate for Spiritual-Behavioral Character development with clients in residential treatment for substance-use disorders. My time with clients begins when they enter our doors, welcoming them to a community and team of professionals that care. I also meet with every new client to introduce our spiritual-behavioral model of treatment (see attached document below). As the client proceeds through the program, I will oversee their spiritual care as they begin exploring the 12 Steps. I will work specifically with them as they explore Steps 2,3,4 and 5. After completing these Steps through our counseling sessions, I will introduce them to Steps 6-12, which usually occurs a week before completing the treatment program as a whole. Other spiritual care support occurs on a daily basis with clients whom are experiencing various degrees of spiritual distress or spiritual emergency. I also teach a lecture on spirituality for all of our clients, and participate with clinical staff when addressing client progress. The great thing about our program at Harbor Hall is that people have an opportunity to discover they have purpose, hope, and a future. Our hope: "The eyes of men and women open with wonder as they move from darkness into light, to see their lives fill with new purpose and meaning. To see whole families reassembled, to see the alcoholic/addict outcast received back into his/her community. And above all, to watch these people awaken to the presence of a loving God in their lives..."
