I was hired on a ten month contract to help the school set up a sustainable fundraising program to support them in their transition from their longtime Head of School to a new Head, who will be fully vested in the role as of July 2015. That contract was renewed month-to-month from July 2014 until February 2015, when we transitioned the role to that of consultant to the school. In my time at Ancona School, I planned and initiated a capital fundraising program to renovate and upgrade the Outdoor Learning Space at the school with an overall goal of $1.8M. To date, raised more than $1.5M toward that goal in just under one year. In support of the campaign, I helped the school establish a relationship with a broker to be able to accept gifts of securities.Also, I raised $192,000 in unrestricted revenue from all sources for the Annual Fund, and planned and executed a gala fundraising dinner for 200 people that raised over $133,000 toward the financial aid program, representing a 22% increase over the prior comparable year. I instituted a planned giving program to raise revenue via estate plans and other financial arrangements and wrote a Gift Acceptance Policy.I hired a highly capable Assistant Director of Advancement, who had a strong background in supporting major and planned gift fundraising. She is poised to help the school manage their fundraising. Prior to the start of my contract, the Ancona Parent Organization dissolved. Recognizing the need for a parent organization to foster and support parent engagement at the school, I recruited and supported a cadre of room parents in the spring of 2014 to revitalize the parent community. That group took the lead in planning and executing, with my support, the first-ever Ancona Fun Run.I am proud of the work I did with the Ancona School, and I'm confident that the school will have a bright future of sustainable funding thanks to the processes I set up for them, as well as the relationships I fostered.

As Treasurer of the largest chapter of Association of Fundraising Professionals in the United States, I review the monthly statements and report at Board and Executive Committee meetings. I also chair the Audit Committee in considering the audit of 2012 finances.

Responsible for building and growing a framework of individual philanthropy to raise at least half of the funding for our $3.2M operation. Raising major gifts from individuals, families, and family foundations.Providing staff support to our Tigers Alive! campaign, an effort to raise $30M over five years to help double the number of wild tigers by the next Year of the Tiger.

Raised $5 million in planned and major gifts from individual donors and families living in the Central Region of the U.S.Coordinated with colleagues in program offices throughout the world to maintain good communication with interested donors. Visited CARE projects in Afghanistan and Peru, accompanying major donors.Created a plan to integrate major gifts and planned gifts in the Central Region of CARE and ran plan ahead of goal up to reorganization of regional structure by CARE headquarters.

Raised $3 million in planned gifts and $1.2 million in major gifts for a globally-recognized zoological institution and research center.Assisted capital campaign colleagues in achieving $134 million on a goal of $125 million, the largest campaign for any cultural institution in Chicago.Created and staffed first Planned Giving Committee for Lincoln Park Zoo; staffed a major gift committee aimed at improving the zoo’s sculpture and gardens.Planned and executed trips for donors/volunteers to visit Cincinnati and New York City to compare urban zoological parks.

Raised $2 million in planned gifts for the Chicago chapter of Red Cross.Created and staffed the Chapter’s first Planned Giving Committee.Elected head of the middle managers committee, named the Executive Management Team.Coordinated and executed a plan to have donors attend a tabletop disaster planning exercise to increase understanding of how Red Cross prepares its response to crises yet to happen.

Led team of fundraisers in headquarters focused on consulting with local Lung Associations on planned giving. Closed $1.5 million in planned gifts for local affiliates, and increased participation in program by 25%.Presented basics of planned giving to 15 local Lung Association boards.

Led fundraising and ticket sales telephone campaigns for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.Met or exceeded goals for sales and fundraising.Hired and managed two crews of fundraisers/sales personnel.
