Profile bio

About Dana Baldwin

I spent four years serving my country in the U.S. Army. I attended basic training and advanced individual training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. After my initial training, I was recruited from the top 1 percent of Army Physical Fitness Test scorers at Fort Jackson to serve at Natick Research, Development, and Engineering Center as a human research volunteer. After turning down a permanent assignment at Natick, I spent 3 years overseas before moving to Fort Polk, Louisiana, and then Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After leaving the Army, I earned my Bachelor's Degree in journalism (news/editorial emphasis) with a minor in English in 3 years (cum laude). I was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Alpha Lambda Delta and the president of the Nontraditional Student Organization. I graduated with a GPA of 3.79.Although I have worked in broadcast and print journalism, my emphasis area has been scholarly (academic) and technical writing and substantive editing. For most of my 25-year career, I specialized in writing and editing special operations doctrine and tactics, techniques, and procedures that addressed such topics as direct action, unconventional warfare, sniper training and employment, advanced urban combat, improvised munitions, noncombatant evacuation operations, psychological operations, and foreign internal defense. In January 2018, I made the leap to "Big Army." I enjoyed the challenge of learning about the Army from a more macro perspective. I now work at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Inspector General. I carry an active SECRET clearance (renewed in 2014).I am also a freelance writer, proofreader, editor, and photographer.
