About Dana Hicks

I have been teaching social studies and history since Fall 2017. Presently, I am at Rapid City Central High School. Mostly, I teach US History spanning from the Colonial Era through the Great Depression. In previous semesters, I have taught US History, Ancient Civilizations, and World History. On the side, I am fiction writer as well. I have published several science fiction eBooks and a paperback.Additionally, I have trained faculty in Learning Management Systems such as Canvas and Google Classroom. I helped designed Rapid City Central High School’s Canvas course template in prior semesters.I have completed an BA in history at the College of St. Benedict | St. John’s University and minored in philosophy and German studies. Additionally, I took some graduate history and English courses at Auburn University. While at Auburn I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant and worked in the Library Archives. In Spring 2016, I finished an MS in Secondary Education at Black Hills State University. At present I am certified through the South Dakota Department of Education to teach middle school and high school history, geography, political, and government courses.
