I also partnered with my international affairs colleagues to serve as liaison to the DC Diplomatic Community. Managed & led the team’s advocacy work on International Trade, Data/Cyber/Cloud Security policy, Blockchain, & Financial Services focused on securing improved access to global markets for IBM & its enterprise clients operating in the modern digital economy. The Congresswoman strategically relied upon my expertise to lead policy initiatives for her in International Trade, Technology & Telecommunications, Cyber Security & Defense Technology, Financial Services, and Healthcare. I managed a legislative staff who worked closely with me on these high-profile topics, providing critical insight and analysis from constituent and industry stakeholders as we shaped pro-growth centrist policy. Additionally, I provided guidance to the Congresswoman in her role as Chair of the New Democrat Coalition, which comprises the largest voting block of moderate, Center-Left voices in the Congress. My leadership and experience as a skilled negotiator and policy practitioner led to the successful management of these complex initiatives, with the following key accomplishments:Guided the Coalition’s legislative activities in furtherance of securing critical votes for the successful passage of international free trade agreements with allies in key geographic regions around the world – Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, and Latin America, while also assisting the United States Government in its efforts to enact Permanent Normal Trade Relations with Vietnam and advancing trade talks with Thailand and New Zealand.Led the Congresswoman’s work on both the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Intelligence/Emerging Threats & Capabilities (formerly the Terrorism Subcommittee) and the Military Personnel Subcommittee. Prepared the Congresswoman for hearings and bill markups (NDAA), drafted legislation pending before both subcommittees and the full committee, and handled related Defense Appropriations requests. Drafted and introduced legislation on Medicare prescription drug affordability and child safety issues.

As a proactive advocate devoted to gun control reform, I researched and tracked gun control legislation at all levels of government and created a database of crucial statistics in targeted regions of the country. I determined critical media outlets in key legislative swing districts to provide local, state, and national reporters with the organization’s valuable insights on gun violence fatalities. I then orchestrated and facilitated high-level conversations between Brady Campaign senior management and influential editorial boards nationwide, amplifying the organization's voice and raising consciousness on critical gun control issues.

Strategically guided and shaped the Congresswoman’s policymaking related to her work on the House Education & Workforce Committee and her two subcommittees. In this dynamic role, I oversaw her engagement in the enactment of the landmark No Child Left Behind Act legislation. I also coordinated stakeholder and constituent engagement on healthcare policy, employment law, and welfare reform, and secured federal funding via the annual appropriations process for vital projects in the Member’s district.

I oversaw and supervised the campaign's political strategy in Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, and Indiana. Acting as a liaison between the state-based field and political teams and campaign headquarters, I utilized my knowledge of the political makeup of each state to help determine where Vice President Al Gore & Joe Lieberman’s appearances would be most effective. Additionally, I coordinated the activities of the delegates from my respective states to the 2000 Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles, CA. My experience in political management allowed me to successfully collaborate with multiple diverse teams across many different core constituencies of the Democratic Party, resulting in increased voter engagement and turnout in this unprecedented Presidential campaign.

A vital member of the Senator’s original legislative staff upon his election to the Senate and appointment to a leadership position within the Senate Democratic Caucus. In this role, I oversaw and helped shape his legislative portfolio related to his position as a Ranking Member of the Commerce, Labor & Insurance Committee. The Senator also served on the Energy, Environment & Natural Resources Committee, which had oversight of Ohio’s efforts to deregulate its electric industry. I secured legislative language in the final enacted bill allowing for community aggregation. In addition, I was selected by the Senate Democratic Caucus' Leadership Team to represent the Senate in negotiations with the State House of Representatives to produce a final transportation funding bill for FY2000.

I am proud to have been part of the team that successfully updated Head Start's Child Tracking System for the 1997-1998 School Year. My role included preparing a profile of all 3,000 clients served throughout this period. Additionally, I was responsible for compiling Head Start program enrollment records from 1998-1999 and identifying children with incomplete medical or dental health records that needed to be completed before the start of the school year. Furthermore, I played a role in creating Head Start's satisfaction survey, which helped improve the program's operations and identified areas for improvement.
