A wide range of experience in supporting, consulting, training and installing software / hardware and web technologies with customers from small independent bookshops to large technology multinationals. Travelling the world but particularly the UK and Ireland in my endeavoursIn 2020 I joined Above The Treeline, a provider of online services to the global book trade. I am delighted with the move. Their values and goals align perfectly with my own desire to support independent bookshops. As one of only 2 UK employees I am responsible for increasing UK and European participation with our services. Specifically online catalogues, trade analytics, customer mailings, collaborations and ecommerce for bookshops.Also in 2020 I was also incredibly proud to have been asked to provide something I was doing in an unofficial capacity since Covid struck, offering booksellers across the UK and ROI a place to field technical questions about their own systems and online solutions. Being part of the mass move to get stores online at a time of huge upheaval will remain one of my proudest achievements.I am absolutely delighted to say that a combination of these roles and work undertaken in my own time has seen me receive the BA Bookseller Hero award for 2021 which I received in front of 250 of my peers at the BA conference. I am lucky to have been put in a position to be able to have helped out during the Covid times. I realise I saved zero lives but am incredibly proud to have been recognised for the work I and my colleagues in my various roles did to help bookshops and publishers carry on and even improve their businesses. As if that wasn't enough, in 2019 my wife gave up her 17 year teaching career to open our bookshop, arts centre and coffee shop, Bookbugs and Dragon Tales. I find myself in the fortunate position to be able to use everything I continue to learn from other booksellers to assist with the success of our shop.
