The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) is a local governmental agency located in San Francisco, with a mission to create a healthy breathing environment for every Bay Area resident while protecting and improving public health, air quality, and the global climate. As an Air Quality Meteorologist, I create and issue daily air quality forecasts for ozone and particulate matter, respond to public data requests, quality control regional meteorological and air quality data, and develop forecast guidance tools to improve forecast accuracy.

Petaluma, California

Sonoma Technology, Inc. (STI) is an environmental consulting firm located in Petaluma, CA. My primary responsibilities at STI include project management, weather and air quality forecasting and data analysis, and daily operations and stakeholder support for the U.S. EPA’s AirNow program. I work on a wide range of weather and air quality data analysis projects, from the development of innovative tools and conceptual models to improve forecast accuracy to assessing the impact of biomass and agricultural burning on ozone formation and regional air quality. I routinely use a suite of data analysis tools, including SQL relational databases, GIS, numerical weather prediction models, Systat, and Microsoft Access. In 2013, I was promoted to Project Manager, and currently direct the planning, funding, personnel, and daily operations for several large projects. In 2014, I was promoted to Team Leader.

At the University of Washington, my duties as a research assistant included the use of numerical modeling to understand complex meteorological phenomenon and the organization and analysis of data for conference presentations and scientific literature. My research demonstrated that mesoscale models can accurately reproduce fine-scale structures associated with observed narrow cold-frontal rainbands.
