One thing that I think stands out about my work experience is the diversity of industries in which I have worked in over my 20+ years. Everything from working as a farm hand during my middle & high school years in rural Alabama, to my current role in senior leadership in the non-profit sector. Even though I have worked in multiple different industries, I have learned that many operations are the same on their core level. And no matter the industry, having dependable, respectful, & hard-working employees is paramount to the success of the organization.Over the past decade, my career path has shifted from daily operations to administrative leadership. For an individual that worked manual labor for many of my younger years, this was and still currently is a constant challenge for me as I am a very active person.Throughout the past 10 years, my main professional focus has been in project management, with a specific focus on the development of new operational programs within existing operational structures. This includes tasks such as budget planning, standard operating procedures, inventory management, and staff development. As a food safety practitioner I wrote and implemented the food safety manual for the storage, processing & distribution of raw agricultural products while maintaining compliance with federal, state & local governing bodies; including independent 3rd party accreditations. In my current role as the Director of Programs my focus has been more on the development and implementation of programs that are designed to provide resources to local residents for little to no cost. Creating Access Not Barriers! This includes everything from our educational food garden to the Period Power program that offers free 3-month supply of menstrual products at no cost to anyone that registers.
