Daniel "Danny" R. Atkinson Jr. joined Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. as Senior Trial Counsel for the State of Louisiana on July 15, 2019. Prior to earning his law degree, Mr. Atkinson received a degree in mechanical engineering from Louisiana State University. There, he earned the prestigious Pi Tau Sigma award. He was accepted to the graduate MBA program at LSU which he attended for one semester before deciding to pursue a law degree. He was accepted to the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center where he obtained his law degree in 1987 and was sworn in that year.With more than 29 years of experience, Mr. Atkinson has represented many of the nation's top insurance companies as well as those insured by such companies. . He has also represented injured individuals arising from accidents or medical malpractice. Mr. Atkinson has tried hundreds of cases and handled well over 100 appeals. He has represented large manufacturing companies in product liability cases and has provided lectures to the senior design class students in the Mechanical Engineering College at Louisiana State University regarding product design safety and the ethical duties of engineers. Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Atkinson has appeared on A.M. Best's Recommended Insurance Counsel List. He is a master in the Dean Henry George McMahon American Inn of Court.Mr. Atkinson has been selected to Super Lawyers as a top rated civil litigation attorney in Baton Rouge in 2013, 2015-2016.
