Performed occupational safety, health and risk duties for the Visalia branch office and areas surrounding Tulare, Fresno and Kern Counties. These duties included conducting job site safety inspections, JSA/JHAs for clients involving varies industries such commercial and residential construction, power plants, surface mining facilities, production and manufacturing plants and small businesses. In addition provided training for our employees and new hires which included but not limited to orientations during our on-boarding process, conducted job specific training to include lift truck operator (forklift), confined space entry and permit, hazardous communication and chemical safety respiratory protection and qualitative fit testing and control of hazardous energy (lockout/tagout). Other duties included accident prevention and post accident investigation and root cause analysis. Managed branch workers compensation claims and collaborated with medical staff to ensure proper and quality treatment of injured employees and expedite closure of open cases by activating the organization return-to-work program.

Developed and improved controls relating to risk, environmental, safety and health through Preliminary Risk Assessments. Worked with businesses in construction, cement plants, trucking and DOT compliance, Recycling facilities, food processing and packaging plants and provided safety and compliance for 60% percent of my workload in the agriculture business such farm labor contractors (FLC), farm management, packing and shipping organizations. This includes providing and facilitating safety meetings, training, tailgates, Fed OSHA and CalOSHA compliance, food safety policies such good manufacturing policies (GMP) for growers in grape, citrus, row crops, almonds and walnut. Performed loss control surveys with emphasis on loss analysis and detailed findings on new risk and annual renewals as a third-party consultant for organizations and underwriters such as Arrowhead, United Wisconsin, Am-Trust and American Alternative Insurance. Help clients develop safety programs to include IIPPs, Ergonomic Workstation Evaluation, Fleet safety, Early Return-to-work programs and safe operating procedures for heavy equipment and machinery. Assisted insured members in reducing their total recordable cases and lost workdays case rates (TRCR) and (LWCR). Improved Frequency and Severity Trends for clients and insured members.

Stationed in various locations to include Fort Hood, Texas, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Fort Benning, Georgia, Fort Lewis, Washington, White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico and various other short term assignments. Served three years on active duty as a combat engineer and the remaining service as a reservist. Attended various schools such as Combat Engineer school, Airborne school, Unit Armorer school, Combat Life Saving school, Warrior Leadership Course (Non-Commissioned Officer school) and various other courses relating to continuous professional and MOS development. I served two tours in Baghdad, Iraq (2004-2005) (2008-2009). First tour was with Bravo Company (Barracudas) 20th Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Calvary Division. Area of operations Task Force 1-12 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2 in Camp War Eagle (Sadr City). Second tour was in support of Multi-National Forces-Iraq, Task Force Jay Hawks, XVIII Airborne Corps. Area of operation Camp Victory, Baghdad Iraq. During my service I was humbly awarded various awards and medals to include Good Conduct, Army Commendation, Soldier of the Quarter and various other ribbons for various accomplishments.
