Dan is a Chartered Scientist and Chartered Water and Environmental Manager with over 20 years postgraduate experience in regulatory and consulting roles. He brings expertise in applied hydro-ecology and hydrology, alongside a broad understanding of river behaviour and legislative drivers. Dan is responsible for APEM's hydrological services, with a particular focus upon reservoir management. He currently leads a team of consultants delivering large, high profile projects to UK water and energy companies. Dan is currently also Chair of the British Hydrological Society (Pennines), which covers the North of England. Addressing new problems and developing new solutions have been important themes of Dan's work throughout his career, and he is frequently commissioned to improve methods for the UK regulatory agencies. In a former role, full-range river flow forecasting work managed by Dan was short-listed for lighthouse designation by the Engineering Council for “achieving major improvements to public welfare through the application of new technology”.
