Terminate and test DT-12, Triax, BNC, D-SUB, DIN, XLR, RCP Cat6/5e.Fiber Optics Phase:Use OTDR, VFL, and power metering to test continuity and optical power/loss in fiber optics cabling. Clean and polish endfaces to ensure acceptable loss levels.Able to terminate ST, Delphi connectors on 9/125 singlemode cable as well as installing fan-out kits. Test and polish ST, Delphi, SMPTE, and Telecast/Grass Valley HDX/SHED boxes. Basic SMPTE Hybrid camera cable troubleshooting. Check fiber optics patch panels on various U.S. Mobile Units; clean and polish as needed. Operate interferometer to check apex offset and radius of curvature. Operate fusion splicer to fuse broken fiber.Systems Integration Phase: I assisted in the construction of brand new television mobile units and upgrading existing units. I learned connector types and termination techniques as well as cutting/prepping cables. I tested, laced, and mulled cable into and under racks. Using truck schematics and rack elevations, I installed broadcast equipment and participated in fully faxing the mobile unit prior to its first show.Bexel Phase:I was assigned to the Los Angeles field shop's Bexel division of NEP where I helped check in and test rental broadcast equipment such as EVS XT servers and Panasonic PTZ camera systems as well as manufacturing cables and fiber optics maintenance.
