About Daniel Correa

Dr. Correa is an Assistant Professor and Neurologist specializing in Brain Injury Medicine and Epilepsy care at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he completed a Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship in Epilepsy. His primary interest is providing clinical care for adults with epilepsy including those in the acute and chronic stage of a brain injury leading to epilepsy. His research interests include the optimized selection of potential candidates for epilepsy surgery, diagnosing "spells" of uncertain etiology, EEG monitoring in the critically ill, and patient education and direct involvement in research development. In December 2023, Dr. Correa was appointed as the fifth Associate Dean of Diversity Enhancement at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In this role he is responsible for developing and running programs for our medical students and participating in our various pathway programs, as well as contributing to establishing future programs. He will also work directly with clinical faculty at our affiliate hospitals regarding student diversity, equity, and inclusion support and clinical career pathway programs.Prior to his Epilepsy training at Montefiore, Dr. Correa served as the Chief of Neuroscience & Rehabilitation Center at Eisenhower Army Medical Center as a Major in the US Army Medical Corp. He has served as a Clinical Investigator and Supervisor on several clinical studies at EAMC along with collaborative work with Morehouse School of Medicine, Madigan Army Medical Center and Augusta University/Medical College of Georgia. He completed Neurology residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center after receiving his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine via the F. Edward Hébert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP). In his community outreach and volunteer efforts Dr. Correa joined the Neurology on the July 2015 VI Annual Neurological Mission to the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest Tena, Napo, Ecuador. While an undergraduate at the University of Mary Washington, Dr. Correa volunteered as Medical Translator for the Penn State Pediatric Mission to Dr. Roberto Gilbert Elizalde Children's Hospital, Guayaquil, Ecuador and participated in academic and scientific endeavors as a Contributing Author & Laboratory Assistant. He hopes to continue to support local and international community efforts to bridge the Epilepsy and Neurology treatment gaps for underserved communities.
