This GIS tool also assisted in digitizing the extent of certain land use types or parcels of land specifically for agricultural appraisal purposes, but including improvements, servitude and public service infrastructure.- Town Planning Schemes. An important aspect of appraisal is the knowledge and understanding of the current town planning schemes specific to an area as well as the spatial development framework, which guides all future development. A key requirement was to maintain relations with local town planning departments in order to stay current of any changes to the Scheme such as zonings, protected areas and earmarked future developments areas. A sound knowledge of Land Use Management is required in order to evaluate a property in terms of its current and future highest and best use.
