My most recent and current role as an MHE operative is to provide support to the Engineers in varying MHE roles including automatic cranes, conveyors, tote tippers, tote elevators, divert pushers and parcel sorters to ensure that the site conveyor system and other machinery is kept fully operational to keep a smooth and consistent flow of work across the site. Proactively ensuring production is affected to a minimum when there are blockages, breakdowns and system issues by clearing the blockages, accurately reporting issues, fault finding and visual inspections and capturing the finding of the appropriate management tool. My role in the BCS was to ensure that all equipment such as the cranes, conveyors and transfers, were kept fully operational and to interrogate the BCSCS system to ensure stock accuracy. This role also involved climbing cranes to access cartons that was causing errors and to rectify the fault. I would then provide H&S provision in the form of ‘rescue at heights’ for all colleagues in need of assistance.

I started my career at The Very Group in the Goods Receiving and Replen department. My daily duties consisted of booking in the trailers and offloading pallets from them. I would then data capture the boxes into varying categories to enter the Warehouse Management System prior to them progressing into the conveyor system. When assigned to Replen, I was trained in using an RFT handheld terminal gun which I used to scan and fill the cages. Then, would replenish the boxes into pick face locations ready for the picking department.During my time picking and packing customer orders, I would continuously have to work towards KPI’s and maintain a high standard of accuracy. On occasion, I would deal with various discrepancies and operative errors such as missing and damaged items. Throughout all roles within my time at The Very Group, I would undergo GDPR training and refreshers due to handling sensitive customer information and implement this in line with adhering to all government guidelines and regulations.
