- As the Division Officer & Interim Division Officer of BHC 1007 Primary Care he supervised 15-20 Civilian staff members. 16 Civilian Providers (2 Physicians Assistants (PAs), 3 Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and 10 Medial Doctors (MDs)), 3-4 Civilian Nurses and 2 Medical Technicians. He supervised a mixture of Active duty and Reservist Military MDs, PAs, NPs, Nurses and Corpsmen. He worked directly with the Providers in Primary care, this entailed detailed administrative work to include creating and organizing their clinic schedules and templates. This included balancing leave, sick leave, duty compensation days and classes within the schedule. All the while ensuring proper staffing was on hand on any given day to take care of the patients. Over this 3 year period he personally inputted over 250 individual monthly provider schedules and he made changes to over 500 daily provider CHCS schedules. While he organized these schedules there very too little error in the schedule and there were never any major complaints or issues when it came to fairness between the providers. -As the Nurse Watch Bill Coordinator BHC 1007, LT Dustin supervised a constant changing pool of nurses from as few as 12 to as many as 32 FHCC nurses. He supervised and coordinated a total of 52 nurses over a 2.5 year period. He personally trained 30 of those Nurses in duty responsibilities. He organized duty coverage's for 285 weekend and holiday duties which provided nursing coverage for over 27,000 patient visits. -LT Dustin is the Time trial Coordinator in conjunction with the Outpatient Roll up report. He has organized monthly time trials with the purpose to track how long it takes a Recruit/patient to get through Recruit Primary Care. He has set up over 30 time trials and has personally entered over 1,500 time trial data samples into the time trial data base. -As the Recruit Primary Care Huddle Board Coordinator, LT Dustin conducted over 100 huddle board meetings over 2.5 years.

Provided phone support and pre-operative counseling for more than 500 patients. Expertly executed medical quality control duties verifying over 800 individual procedure records including surgical consents and procedural time outs.

Helmond Province, Afghanistan

-Charge nurse for Combat logistic Regiment-15, Charlie Surgical Company, Shock Trauma Platoon 1, Combat Outpost Shukvani, cared for over 150 critically injured combat casualties.-Led one nurse and six 6 medical assistants in daily education and ensuring the daily readiness of the Emergency treatment area. Developed training scenarios to keep staff prepared for any patient. -Fire Warden and Safety Officer, found overall safety programs lacking. Independently developed the unit’s Safety procedures/SOP. Completed training to be a Fire Warden. Fashioned fire evacuation map and routes, designed a “defend in place” plan for fire defense; expanded available fire extinguishers by 50%. Organized 2 hands on fire evacuation and trainings in conjunction with the flight line fire teams. This allowed the teams to train on building extractions and fire extinguishing. Produced a tracking matrix for 15 fire extinguishers and 20 smoke detectors. Over all increasing the compounds safety and fire preparation from nothing to a fully functioning system.

Responsible for providing nursing care to over 6,000 patients/month in a 49 Bed Emergency Department with varying acuity levels. Supervises up to 12 RNs and 8 paraprofessionals. completed moderate sedation certification with allowed the emergency department to provide increased servicesEducator and instructor teaching multiple classes for nurse orientation and in-services in the Emergency Department.

Okinawa, Japan

Emergency Department Nurse and team leader for one of the Navy’s busiest high acuity Emergency Departments and only English speaking ER on Okinawa, Japan. 12-bed ER averaging over 1900 patients monthly.Medical Records Review Committee. Responsible for reviewing 30 Emergency Room Records on a monthly bases, looking for documentation errors. Revised units quality assurance review procedures to more accurately evaluate administrative and clinical processes based on current practice standards. Data collection point for seven other departments, assisting in the command’s ability to ensure compliance with Joint Commission Standards.

Guantanamo Bay, Cuba

• Staff Nurse, provided comprehensive nursing care at three detention sites in accordance with national and professional standards in a maximum security environment. Supervised 12 paraprofessionals in providing sound leadership and clinical expertise while providing safe and humane care to detained enemy combatants. Instrumental in the completion of over 1600 sick call visits, 3,850 medication passes and safe nursing to 8 detention hospital admissions.

Okinawa, Japan

• Medical Surgical Ward staff Nurses and Charge Nurse for a 20-bed Multi-service Adult/Pediatric Ward. Provided direct patient care to 6-9 patients per shift, supervised 2-3 Paraprofessionals.• Medical Surgical Ward Supply officer in charge of annual budget of $58,000. Reorganized 2 Supply rooms bring them into hospital safety standards, significantly reduced the amount of hazardous on the unit by managing integration into the Consolidated Hazardous Material Reutilization Program. • Observed the 20 beds on the floor were getting old. Researched multiple companies for appropriate beds. Found Stryker to have the appropriate beds. Requested from the hospital leadership permission to purchase new beds and was approved. Organized the purchase and shipment of 20 beds and mattress. ICU and Post Maternity wards heard about this order and had me order a total of 25 more beds and Mattress. This increase the safety and comfort of the hospital patients. Note: most of the credit for this situation went to my supervisor after I was deployed.
