Developing new manufacturing processes and materials based on Additive Manufacturing for a large variety of applications such as aerospace, telecommunication, prosthetic, implants, space and energy. I manage a research group of 4-7 PhD students and supervise 7 student projects yearly. I have been the local Director of the CDT in Additive Manufacturing (£4M) since 2016 and principle investigator for the EPSRC Grand Challenge project SYMETA (£3.6M).

Research in Nanofabrication Technologies and Nanoscale 3D printing. The projects involved drawing nano-patterns using chemical AFM as well as building a new setup for electrohydrodynamic jet printing.

This project was a large multi-disciplinary project with physicists, chemists, microbiologists, and doctors aiming to develop an ultra-sensitive sensor for HIV detection. My role was to develop and fabricate a selective filter based on a bumper array to separate 90 nm HIV virus particles from blood plasma. The bumper array consisted of millions of vertical silicon nanowires etched deep into the silicon with nanometer precision.

This project was a large multi-disciplinary project with physicists, chemists, microbiologists, and doctors aiming to develop an ultra-sensitive sensor for HIV detection. Developed novel ways to integrate carbon nanotubes (CNT) into Microfabricated systems (MEMS) as well as discovering fundamental growth principles for CNTs. The PhD was in joint collaboration with Cambridge University where I was based for more than half of the PhD. One of my projects was additionally in collaboration with EPFL (Switzerland) where I worked for a couple of weeks carrying out experiments.
