In this position I serve as the leading representative and advocate of John Deere Construction Equipment needs with respect to new engine programs. As new engine programs develop within Deere, I collaborate directly with John Deere Power Systems to ensure the requirements of the construction equipment product lines are met as best they can be. I'm not only responsible for understanding the unique needs of each construction product line, and making sure they're accounted for, but also driving for common execution when multiple product groups have overlapping requirements.In this position I frequently interact with and drive action and results from multiple functional areas, including design engineering, program management and marketing, product verification & validation, customer support, manufacturing, and more. As the Enterprise Aftertreatment Integration Lead I serve as the communication point between John Deere Power Systems and the numerous vehicle teams within the company. I am responsible for coordinating requirements for design of future aftertreatment systems components between the divisions, ensuring as many needs as possible are met, while focusing on decisions that are best for the company as a whole. As an Application Engineer with John Deere Power Systems I am the liaison between the Power Systems division and internal vehicle partners. In this position I function as a project manager coordinating numerous project deliverables as well as timelines, facilitating vehicle partners either changing power systems or powering future vehicle lines.

As an aftertreatment development engineer, I am resposible for designing testing procedures, documentation, and implementation of emerging technologies in diesel emissions. Maintaining EPA compliance on all released engine platforms as well as providing solutions to upcoming regulations is a great majority of this position. Both software and hardware solution development is expected.

In this position, responsabilities included basic vehicle software configuration and bench testing to include feature performance, simulated engine governors, and component functionality. In addition, responsabilities included construction and support of developmental engine software to be used in life-test durability operations. Basic and some in-depth knowledge of software structures and operations were gained.

During the rotation I had as a performance and emissions base development engineer, I conducted both steady state and transient testing of various Final Tier 4 emissions level engines. Calibrations were updated to comply with EPA regulations as well as meet power and fuel consumptions required for our engine series. Rigerous data analysis as well as hands on tuning of engine performance ECUs was a daily task. Also, scheduling of test engine builds through the on-site build floor was one of my responsabilities in this position.

As a member of the test lab operations group I was responsible for conducting scheduled calibration and verification of systems of engine performance and emissions test cells. In the engine development and testing environment all systems of measurement and interface must be accurate and reliable. Systems worked on included both transient and steady state dynomometers, instantaneous and batch particulate matter measurement systems, gaseous emissions sampling systems, fuel measurement and delivery systems, and extensive test cell operation aspects.
