Managed the end-to-end operations for the Space Component of the Copernicus European Commission Programme. Coordinated day-to-day operations of the service, from various EO data procurement to customer support tasks, with particular attention to service evolution and improvements. This role also entailed managing and developing a team of between 10 and 15 people, on site and remotely, providing operational support and guidance to all team members with 24/7 availability.Also responsible for managing relationships with the customer (on both the European Space Agency and European Commission side) as well as project partners, organising and participating in regular operations meetings and service performance reviews across Europe to represent the operational service on behalf of ESA.

Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the customer interface within the Copernicus Service and oversaw a team of five daytime operators. Duties included ensuring that requests for data procurement were handled appropriately, coordinating the customer helpdesk for users of Sentinel data, managing the 24/7 emergency operations, generating monthly reporting inputs as well as taking part in regular client meetings.

As an operator for the European Space Agency’s Copernicus Service, I translated data requests from users into corresponding orders to satellite contributing missions to facilitate dataset production. This entailed understanding the characteristics and capabilities of a variety of both optical and SAR satellites in order to determine the appropriate mission and sensor required. Further to this my role as a REACT Operator under the Copernicus Emergency Service involved working to strict time constraints in order to task satellites and deliver imagery covering a wide range of emergency situations throughout the world.As an additional responsibility I also updated and maintained the Copernicus Services website. Within this role I published news articles and additional content to inform users of changes and evolutions to the service.

Handled customer queries regarding the Rural Land Register and administration of Single Payment Scheme. This also involved editing and updating the Rural Land Register using bespoke GIS software. I also worked on the 2009 Remote Sensing project where I analysed satellite imagery of farmland to determine a variety of issues that could impact customer’s claims. My final year at the RPA I worked on the Face to Face team, a specialist team set up to assist with high profile cases and organisations who required large scale mapping update projects. All of my individual roles within the RPA required the ability to work with the ArcGIS software package and the agency’s own mapping database, the Rural Land Register as well as working with remote sensing imagery and aerial photography and various database programs.
