About Daniel Kaszuba
In May of 2023, I joined the YMCA of Three Rivers as a Job Developer. A recent service transformation allowed my role to evolve into Career Retention where I assist clients with keeping and growing their jobs. I've helped mostly youth and immigrant Job Seekers connect with life and career stabilizing resources and opportunities. I also connect regularly with local employers in an effort to create and enhance employment opportunities for our clients and learn more about the region's labour market.I love what I do - the feeling that comes from celebrating and being a part of our clients' career journeys has yet to be matched with anything I've accomplished in the 14 years I've been working! There's still so much to learn, though, and I look forward to what this field has yet to show me: motivational interviewing, careers in the Green/Sustainability sector, compiling and sharing information on "macro"-level labour market topics, and seeing how advancing technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality will enhance Career Development. I want to make experience it all and put it to work for my clients.I also want to continue using and further developing what I've learned as a graduate of Conestoga College's Career Development Professional (CDP) program, the theory that explains the practical. I'm finding that the competencies and theories discussed in this program can get lost in the daily shuffle of forms to be filled out, funding to be spent, and stakeholder expectations to be met. How do people find time to engage with professional development and use what they've learned? How can we be better and encourage others to follow suit? While I ponder these questions, I owe my continued survival in this field to 10+ years of experience in sales, leadership and administrative roles across a variety of different organizations. I've always enjoyed the "people" aspect of doing business with a particular interest in leading, supporting, and developing team members, and the opportunities to exercise these passions have been numerous in this field. My work requires me to be an effective diplomat, adept at defusing tense moments and balancing customer expectations with reality. This difficult but very fulfilling work is made easier by remembering that every scenario has a secret "win-win" button, you just need to ask the right questions to find it!If you've read this far, why don't we have a meeting? I'd love to hear YOUR story.
