This was my final rotation in my GTLP journey and my ultimate landing spot. I have been able to work with an incredible team of engineers and builders as we are building platforms to enable teams within TELUS. I have been able to work on a variety of initiatives such as Slack integrations, web applications, APIs, and cloud infrastructure in order to improve developer experience. Our focus now is developing cutting edge AI solutions to further empower teams across TELUS and optimize the work being done

In this role, I had the opportunity to work on the DevOps enablement squad for the TELUS customer service agent platform. During my time on this team, we were undergoing a widespread effort to migrate over 50 existing services from OpenShift to Google Cloud Platform. I was able to learn under several senior engineers and architects and grow confidence developing scalable and reliable infrastructure. During my time on this team, I was also in charge of developing an internal ticket management tool to streamline the approval process for our production releases. I had to communicate with a variety of stakeholders across the team, and work through all steps of the development lifecycle, from assessing requirements, to user interface design and finally implementation and deployment

I joined TELUS as part of their Graduate Technology Leadership Program and joined a tight knit team building internal tools for network planners. We developed a web application to optimize existing network planning processes using React.js for the front end and Node.js for the back end. I was also able to take the lead on refactoring and extending an existing application which used AngularJS and PHP for the back end. My time on this team allowed me to build my confidence in a professional setting as well as my communication and mentorship skills

During my time as a co-op at BuildDirect, I oversaw the development and maintenance of automated test suites running in our CICD environment. I collaborated closely with the development squads in order to coordinate and implement test strategies and ensure that code quality and standards were met before release. I grew into my role and was able to contribute to features being developed as well as delivering on my testing duties

This was my first co-op role and I gained experience joining a technical team environment. I was responsible for executing a variety of manual and automated test suites on the latest software and firmware releases for proprietary network devices. I was also responsible for documenting and triaging issues, as well as communicating and collaborating with the development teams to ensure release deadlines were met. Along with several other co-ops, I was also able to gain experience in developing automated test suites
