As Director of Urban Mechanics, Daniel Lim leads a team that drives innovative, experimental solutions to complex urban challenges through multi-disciplinary, people-oriented, and occasionally unconventional approaches. Think City’s Urban Mechanics team works with the public and private sectors to optimise city engines towards achieving resilience and improving quality of life.Daniel has spent the last decade pioneering programmes to conserve, restore, and rejuvenate spaces through placemaking and space activation in various Malaysian cities. He is a founding member of the Southeast Asia Creative Cities Network and a committee member of Placemaking Malaysia under the Malaysian Institute of Planners chapter.

Daniel Lim leads the Placemaking practice for Think City, a Malaysia-based Impact organisation that aims to make cities people-friendly and resilient by being a catalyst for change in the way cities are planned, curated, developed and celebrated. He has spent the last decade pioneering programmes to conserve, restore or rejuvenate spaces through placemaking and space activation. As part of Think City's founding team, Daniel has grown with the organisation, starting in George Town as a Programme Executive, and rising through the ranks to set up Think City's expansion to other cities in Malaysia. Daniel's strength lies in his ability to ideate, develop and implement practical programmes, with pro-active engagement to gain stakeholders' trust and commitment. Over the last 4 years, he defined and led the execution of Think City's rejuvenation programmes in downtown Johor Bahru. Today, he splits his time between George Town, Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur, where he is driving the implementation of the Kuala Lumpur Creative & Cultural District (KLCCD).
