I have succesfully completed a Higher Certificate in Engineering in Telecommunications and Data Network Engineering. During this apprenticeship, I have worked on the network for two years while doing so. Starting with the install team, I learned how to terminate single mode fibre and run drop cables to buildings. After the first year with installs, I moved into building the network through cabling and splicing. Here, I picked up invaluable skills such as network planning, building a structured live network and using a blowing machine to put in cable. I also developed skills to test the network before completion.
