Contracted to Elektrofi, a biopharmical research company developing a microparticle suspension technology platform that can be adapted to nearly any protein therapeutic. Brought into a new internal manufacturing team. Tasked with scaling the process from bench scale to pilot plant scale (1g to 200g), ran aseptic processes starting with tangential flow filtration (TFF) including use of Rotor/Stator Mixers, and Impinging jet. Helped Elektrofi get ready for GLP test article production and then eventual GMP certification (cGMP).● Transformed monoclonal antibodies into microparticles suspended in oil through precise and controlled processes, ensuring product integrity and quality.● Executed aseptic processing techniques, commencing with Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF), followed by the suspension of hydrocarbons in oil, and concluded with meticulous filtration procedures.● Demonstrated expertise in operating specialized equipment, including rotor/stator mixers and Impinging Jets, for the preparation of batches ranging from 1 gram to 200 grams, meeting production demands efficiently and timely.● Prepared the groundwork of Formulation, Fill, and Finish for test article production, providing essential support to technicians as they prepared for the eventual Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) certification.● Worked cross functionally with drug, process, analytical, and formulation development teams daily. ● Wrote/developed various Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment to ensure a sterile and compliant work environment.

Industrial Process And Plant Design Engineer

Kingsport, Tennessee, United States

Spearheaded a transformative design project focused on evaluating and implementing innovative distillation technologies for ethanol production. Tasked with accessing Praj’s Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) distillation technology, I successfully synthesized flowsheets, simulated processes, estimated capital and operating costs, and evaluated/compared CO2 reduction and economics for the following processes – one without heat integration, one with separate MVR compressors, and one with single (integrated) MVR system a’ la Praj.● Planned and delivered physical properties and safety using Aspen physical property method(s), VLE, LLE, Vapor pressure curves, Binary xy and Txy diagrams, residue curves, and ternary LLE diagrams.● Designed and created three process flow diagrams (PFDs) by hand and using Aspen. Tabulated / described key physical properties affecting the process. Wrote process narrative walking through the PFDs.● Calculated and ran heat and material balances, describing chemistry/ key assumptions, physical property, modeling methodology, and results. Creating detailed stream tables and utility usages.● Evaluated and calculated capital cost estimates by describing methodology and results. Summarized (tabulated) purchases equipment costs, capital cost components. Created detailed equipment lists for the entire process.● Ran and calculated economics and sensitivity study on process. Summarized operating cost breakdown (raw materials, utilities, etc) and sensitivity study results (tornado diagram and 2-D plot). Detailed cost calculations and cash flow calculations.● Ran safety analyses (inherently safer design analysis, FMEA, and HAZOP), safety data sheets (SDSs) and process intensification study.● Wrote weekly update reports and finalized executive summary, proposal report, and project report addressed to business managers at Eastman Chemical Company.
