Proving assistance to the farm's Operations Manager, through planning and problem solving. My responsibilities lie in coordinating of movents, grading, fish health monitoring, water quality testing, harvesting, feed management and housekeeping. Undertaking effective day to day fish husbandry duties to maintain optimum rearing standards and levels in this large RAS facility. Running the system independently at times, and as well as being integral to running and management of staff and systems.I have improved and developed understanding and techniques to give optimum water quality in low-exchange systems, including introducing appropriate record keeping and developing sampling protocols. I have designed and run trials using halophytes as a means to improve and develop artificial wetland effectiveness at the site, producing a stable population of plants in an environment that previously supported no perennial plant life. Through a combination of applied theoretical understanding and environmental enhancement. My specific areas of interest involve the long term development of recirculation aquaculture using high density rearing systems, producing harvest size fish in shorter cycles with improved conversion rates and the lowest possible effect on wild fish stocks and the environment. Developing systems that will one day work towards intensive and fully integrated aquaculture systems.
