Peak Gold Mines (Aurelia Metals Ltd)As a senior mine geologist I am responsible for geological input into the day to day operations of Peak Gold Mines two underground mines, covering five deposits, with main responsibility for one of the deposits, at its mine sites around Cobar, NSW. Duties include the following:complying with all site specific & legislative safety guidelines, conducting safety audits, daily checks & timely reporting of any hazards,liaising with shift managers, mining crews, engineers, mill operators & admin staff regarding the day-to-day operations of the mine,creating & successfully implementing SWPs and SOPs,collecting, collating, analysing and interpreting a range of data including development face maps & samples, surface & underground geology & alteration maps, diamond & percussion drilling logs & block models,daily monitoring of development headings, including mapping & sampling, headings ore/waste determination & tracking from face to database,accurately updating plans with geological data, as new exposures develop,diamond drill core logging (lithology, alteration, mineralisation & geotechnical logging),managing underground diamond drilling programs including hole design, development planning, drill core logging & performance monitoring,instructing various employees & contractors such as diamond drillers, field technicians, core geo-technicians & sample lab technicians,assisting with project planning & development,design of development when in ore and geo-stopes and subsequent reconciliation,liaise with assay laboratories & monitor QAQC of samples from collection to assay result,working autonomously to meet targets & goals but accounting regularly to senior personnel including submission of reports, attendance of mine planning & development meetings & as needed discussions,assisting with reports for use by numerous stakeholders,liaison & management of relationships with drilling contractors.

As a geologist I was responsible for geological input into the day to day operations of HEGs operations at its site office at Hill End, NSW, mainly comprising the Reward Gold Mine (underground) and the exploration of the ELs in the surrounding area to find near and long-term targets.Numerous duties included the following:- complying with all site specific and legislative safety guidelines, conducting safety audits, daily checks and timely reporting of any identified hazards,- liaising with shift managers, mining crews, engineers, mill operators and administrative staff regarding the day-to-day operations of the mine,- ­organising regular department safety meetings,- creating and successfully implement Safe Working Practices and Standard Operating Procedures,- collecting, collating, analysing and interpreting a range of data including development face maps and samples, surface and underground geology and alteration maps, diamond and percussion drilling logs and block models,- daily monitoring of development and ore headings and rises, including mapping and sampling, headings ore/waste determination, tracking from face to database and assisting with survey activities,- accurately updating mine plans with geological data, as new exposures develop,- diamond drill core logging (lithology, alteration, mineralisation and geotechnical logging),- managing in-house underground diamond drilling programmes including hole design, development planning, drill core logging and performance monitoring,- managing and instructing various employees and contractors such as diamond drillers, field technicians, core geo-technicians and sample lab technicians,- design of development and stopes and subsequent reconciliation,- establish controls to high grade mineralization and recommend models for testing,­- preparing and compiling reports for use internally, by the board, shareholders, press or other stakeholders.

As a geologist my job principally involved contract fieldwork in the Bowen basin of Queensland in the coal mining industry. My role required me to liaise with clients, colleagues and contractors ensuring efficient operation of various projects including exploration activities at an open cut mine and greenfields exploration. I was regularly required to present my field work to colleagues, updating them on the progress of exploration.Responsibilities were similar to those at Hill End Gold but with a mainly exploration focus. Work included landholder liaison, diamond drill supervision with chip and core logging, line of oxidation and gas drainage testing, sample preparation and interpretation of geophysical logs.
