I am a Professor in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, and Director of the Nelson Institute Center for Climatic Research at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. My research focuses on climate dynamics and impacts, and includes development of theoretical models of ocean / atmosphere interaction, development and application of statistical models and analyses to large climatic data sets, running numerical models of varying complexity, and developing organizational structures that facilitate climate solutions within complex-adaptive socio-ecological systems. I am inspired to blend theoretical knowledge and applied analyses to develop relevant information that advances a greater societal good.
