Dan Vimont began his computer career in 1989 [immediately after acquiring his MBA degree] when Software AG's Professional Services division hired him into a team that was producing packaged [Natural/Predict/Adabas] applications for North American universities. The experience that he gained as a designer and developer of Natural/Predict/Adabas applications at Software AG, and later as a contract employee at a number of SAG customer sites, prepared him for his roles in development and project management for Treehouse Software that he stepped into in 1997. For most of his Treehouse career, Dan has been responsible for overseeing design and development of TSI's ADABAS-to-RDBMS data and metadata migration products, tRelational [a Natural/Predict/Adabas application] and DPS. He also assumed responsibility for design and co-development of DPS X-Link [a C++, object-oriented application], which offers Treehouse customers the ability to instantly incorporate their mainframe ADABAS systems into state-of-the-art Service Oriented and Web Service architectures. Also, he recently designed and developed a new Natural-based product for CA, which contracted Treehouse Software to build new "bridging technology" between the Natural/Predict/Adabas environment and CA's change management product, Endevor. Dan has spent almost two decades in design and development of commercial applications. Crucially, for the last ten years of his career he has been almost exclusively involved in inventing technologies and methodologies for conversion and migration of Natural/Predict/Adabas data and metadata into radically different environments -- including both the relational world and the XML world. This experience has left him with a deep and very unique perspective on Natural/Predict/Adabas technologies, one that is particularly useful in being brought to bear on the broader challenges of full-application migration now faced by an ever-growing number of companies.Specialties: Systems integration, complex data and metadata transformation tools and methodologies
