My role within Essex County Council is to provide 2nd line support and carry out field engineer works throughout Essex at various sites. My work includes imaging desktops and laptops with either Windows 7 and XP builds using Windows PE and delivering equipment to current and new employees to complete service requests to meet SLA’s at all times. I am involved in asset management, making sure that any new equipment that comes in is recorded, marked with an asset tag and then added into the asset registry, following up that any assets assigned to an individual are also updated if the users change or when equipment is issued.Essex County Council are currently undergoing a major migration of all employees from Windows XP to Windows 7, this has generated an excessive amount of decommissioned equipment that needs to be collected, updated in the asset management system and then arranging for this equipment to be sent to our 3rd party company to fully decommission. Working closely with my Line Manager, I have taken responsibility for co-ordinating the field engineers to collect equipment and return faulty equipment.Mentoring apprentice’s I am able to demonstrate training skills and leadership skills, managing workflow and delegating work to apprentice’s as their training and skills develop. I am regularly involved in projects requiring large amounts of equipment either deployed at once or phased, I am responsible for liaising with both the project managers and the end user raising the projects to establish time frames, quantity of equipment needed, arranging with user admin to create user accounts if needed and organising the time for configuring equipment as well as maintaining commitment to completing service requests.

My role included querying data to provide counts for potential clients on the specifications they had provided and extract data to produce outputs for orders. This required extensive use of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio to query and extract data, and Microsoft Excel where outputs would be extracted to and the data be cleansed. I was also the IT analyst/administrator resolving issues with employee’s computers, ordering and setting up new computers, installing required software, testing new software before deployment across the company and managing the exchange server, creating new employee email accounts, managing inbox data allowances and user accounts and implementing and managing internet restrictions. I further developed my organisation skills being required to prioritise work received in the data management inbox based on due date and amount of work required. I was able to demonstrate effective communication skills through extensive email and telephone calls between the sales team and with external clients, where it was important to be clear and obtain all of the specifications required for each job. I also developed business reports and a bespoke Gross Product Margin system which produced regular reports for the sales managers to identify all sales teams’ targets and performance.

Working at McDonalds I learnt many different skills, starting at 16 as a crew member I developed customer service skills and aimed to always achieve a high standard of work and aim for 100% customer satisfaction going out of my way to help customers however I could. I used this passion to become a manager and by 18 was running shifts of my own, at this point being responsible for the store and the staff through my shift. When I became a manager I started to develop my management skills which included training new employees, following procedures and instructing staff and providing constructive criticism and performing disciplinary procedures where needed. Other skills learnt and developed include:- management training and a BSM (Basic Shift Management) Diploma- responsibility for stock control and stock ordering, including SCM- first aid in the work place- health and safety in the work place- financial responsibility including budgets

Using Worcester Bosch Group as a point of contact and a case study reference for my Dissertation in my final year, I have compiled a project that investigates the extent of Information Systems use in implementing Lean Manufacturing. My report looks at the methods currently adopted by Worcester and a recommendation of my own to improve their manufacturing process using information systems to gain a competitive advantage in the market.I have a presentation for Worcester Bosch Group Managers of my findings, how I feel they can improve and a forecast (estimate) of the effects my recommendation should have.

I held this position as an Industrial Placement working in the Operations Department. I worked within Network Operations; a team of 8 people developing in-house bespoke software to meet the requirements of the Gas National Control Centre (GNCC) and other departments supporting the GNCC. During the placement I developed basic VB script developing a file transfer program and online database. I also learnt the important of obtaining all the requirements from a customer on project to aid in meeting the customer’s expectations in the first instance limiting alterations towards the end of a project along with developing my time keeping skills and meeting deadlines as this was key. I was involved in, and led many meetings with other teams to discuss projects and the expected outcomes of work required, improving my team work and communication skills. Within my team we would all be required to deliver regular presentations to management and closely related teams of current systems and prototyped proposed systems.Learning Visual Basic coding language, the team I was placed in started with the assumption I knew coding, which I did not so I hard to learn fast and from the beginning. I developed a number applications during my placement. Asking for help when getting stuck and using personal time to practice coding and researching the coding language. Over the course of the year I become more confident with Visual Basic and have an moderate understanding of developing web based applications using Visual Studio.
