My main role involves copyediting a wide variety of highly technical documents, ensuring they are accurate and correctly formatted, and suitable for use by clients in various sectors. I also contribute to JBA’s wider marketing offer, from writing website copy and proofing press releases to writing blogs, white papers and event reports. I have also taken on the task of developing the company’s website and analysing trends using Google Analytics, as well as writing and distributing Mailchimp briefings to a mailing list with varying levels of technical knowledge.

My partner and I created this thriving plant shop and nursery from scratch, embedding the business within the community and focusing on customer satisfaction, loyalty and repeat business. Responsibilities included business planning, bookkeeping and all marketing activity, as well as managing the shop seven days a week. I also used my writing skills when sending marketing emails to an engaged mailing list, blogging, and creating presentations for local organisations.

I grew my role from that of online copywriter to head of a small department writing, editing and proofreading all The Book People’s popular mail order catalogues. I also edited and wrote for the Red House children’s book catalogue and website and the relaunched Puffin Post magazine. I created compelling online content, developed online features, and wrote blog and social media posts which drove traffic to the website and grew sales across the business.
