During my internship, I worked on the Data Team's Contract Evaluation pod to develop a tool that would minimize improper spending in administration & business costs for use across multiple teams. During the development of this ambitious project, I worked closely with my manager and stakeholders and became proficient in using Google BigQuery, Jira, and Oscar-specific languages and coding practices.At the end of the summer, I led demonstrations about how the tool could be used by different teams and my project helped shape the Data team's roadmap for the following quarter.

In my first semester at the Wilson Center, I explored North Carolina sentencing data from felonies and misdemeanors utilizing RMarkdown for visualizations and data sharing. Our general goals included displaying and understanding the data at the state and city levels.In my last year, I worked alongside Brandon Garrett to continue the efforts of the Houston Monitorship regarding Misdemeanor Bail Practices. I analyzed bail outcomes in relation to hearing officers in Houston and created actionable visualizations and graphics to help improve unfair outcomes through our regular meetings with involved parties.Here at the Wilson Center, I have come to understand the importance of publishing our findings in an explainable way to the general public. Our research has the power to expose what is really transpiring in our legal systems, governments, and communities.

For ten weeks my team and I built tools to understand voting patterns and gerrymandering of districts in North Carolina. We used several dimension reduction techniques to cluster different elections into common groups and tested various methods for generating synthetic elections for comparison. I implemented a new swing method incorporating voter turnout within a voting block to compare precincts in NC.

As a cashier and customer service representative in high school, I worked to provide exceptional service to customers and identify their needs. I was responsible for maintaining store organization and cleanliness, operating the cash register, and protecting company assets.I returned briefly during the winter holiday season in 2020 as a receiving associate where I was in charge of outgoing direct-to-customer shipping.
