Surfpop Foundation is a registered non-profit organization, which I founded in 2015. As a surf enthusiast, I had a strong desire to share my passion for surfing and the ocean with at-risk children and youth who do not have the same opportunities I had during my childhood. Children and youth growing up in disadvantaged communities around Cape Town have little hope of escaping their socio-economic environment: poverty, crime, drugs, gangsterism and a lack of good quality education and job opportunities are rife and real battles these children face. That is why Surfpop aims to create long-lasting opportunities for them through a powerful formula of surfing, education and nutrition

I founded Surfpop Volunteers in 2015, to provide meaningful travel experiences to people wanting to learn how to surf and explore South Africa, while offering them a rewarding opportunity to give back to the local community by volunteering their time at Surfpop Foundation. Surfpop Volunteers is an important financial driver behind Surfpop Foundation, contributing to its financial sustainability, while providing Surfpop with the necessary helping hands in the ocean and in our Surfpop Foundation classroom.

I founded and managed a surf hotel, named Bailey's Surf Shack, situated in the surf mecca of South Africa, Muizenberg. I built the business out of nothing, based on my own dreams and skills, and gained a wide experience as entrepreneur in the tourism industry. With an academic background in Creative Brand Communication, I succeeded in establishing a reputable brand, with a clear communication and marketing strategy. As manager I put all the systems in place to facilitate the operation of the business and managed a team of staff members.
