I am currently working in the Network Pricing - Pricing team. The team is focused on assessing network charges each year to ensure they reflect underlying costs and do not breach revenue limits, as well as being involved in the setting of the revenue and price caps related to Alternative Control Services for each NSP's regulatory period. In particular, I am responsible for the revenue and price caps related to metering services and public lighting provided by NSPs, and the ongoing compliance with these mechanisms. I am also responsible for guiding NSPs on the application and compliance with control mechanisms underlying the pricing of their services.I have recently completed the 2018 graduate program at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and Australian Energy Regulator (AER). Upon completion, I have taken on a role as Analyst within the AER, working in the area of Distribution.Throughout this graduate program I have taken on rotational positions in general enforcement in the ACCC, distribution/transmission regulation and retail market performance reporting in the AER. Across these positions I have been exposed to many different areas of work, including data analysis, policy analysis, performance reporting, regulatory economics, and enforcement of Consumer, Contract, and Competition Law. After participating in Etax Accountants' Accelerate Graduate program, I am now working with Etax Accountants as a Graduate Accountant within the Amendments team. Amongst a variety of general duties such as taking incoming calls and tax queries, general tax returns, and client correspondence, I specialise in completing amendments to original tax returns. As my rile is to complete amendments to previously completed returns (both internal and external), I am required to be able to analyse previous accountant's work to determine areas of improvement, and have an ability to apply my knowledge in areas such as capital gains, business and personal services income, rentals, non-tax residency, as well as many more areas.Previously, in the seasonal position of Administration Assistant with Etax Accountants, I would contribute to the task of sorting and distribution of thousands of pieces of mail, electronic, and voice correspondence that are received daily. Other tasks I undertook included batch scanning of sensitive and confidential information and the following distribution to clients or other relative people, responding to and actioning general enquiries and also some accounting enquiries within my ability, completion of non-lodgment advices, banking, and other general office duties.This role was my first of the kind in a general administration and accounting environment. I pursued this role to gain experience in the corporate environment, to experience a more professional customer service than the retail and hospitality customer service I had previously experienced, and to engage in more relative employment to my studies.
