Working at Peraton was a highly engaging and educational experience. I worked as a data science intern developing machine learning models to perform semantic type detection of a wide variety of data types, which taught me the principles of deep neural networks, clustering algorithms, and working with Docker in linux-based development environments. Work completed during my internship:• Programmed several Self-Organizing Map algorithms to cluster a fixed number of sematic datatypes• Programmed a Growing Self-Organizing Map algorithm to cluster a variable number of sematic datatypes• Implemented Spectral, Agglomerative, DBSCAN, OPTICS, and BIRCH algorithms from the Sci-kit Learn library to perform unsupervised clustering on nongeneric datatypes• Trained artificial neural networks using the MLP Classifier algorithm in the Sci-kit Learn Library to classify datatypes• Experimented with a variety of NLP feature extraction methods including word embeddings, paragraph vectors, and character distributions• Developed artificial neural networks with Tensorflow to test feature extraction methods on supervised datatype classification• Developed a complex multi-network machine learning model using Tensorflow to perform semantic datatype detection• Built a program to efficiently query data from a Cassandra database using Python• Collaborated with group members to design a multi-part classification model to detect semantic data types• Built guides for team members on how to create and interact with linux-based Docker containers on remote clusters with CUDA enabled GPU support, custom resource allotment, Anaconda Python environments, and external volume storage

This involved working with Python, SQL, large datasets, Visual Basic for Applications, and Jupyter Notebooks. Projects completed during my internship: • Programmed a web-scraping tool to cross-reference hundreds of files across several databases • Coded a Jupyter Notebook application that displays large data in a highly interactive manner • Wrote a Python script that manipulates multiple large datasets and automatically updates SQL databases • Developed a Python tool that automatically concatenates hundreds of Word documents and PowerPoint presentations • Developed a code template used to rapidly display interactive graphical data • Helped develop a VBA application that could convert bulk emails to Word documents

As a front counter team member, I had three main roles: ensuring customer satisfaction, cleaning, and restocking. I took food orders for customers, worked in the dining room talking to guests, refreshing beverages, wiping tables , and taking out trash. I also constantly restocked food and other equipment in the restaurant, deep cleaned many spaces (including the bathrooms, dining room, and playhouse), and worked in the drive through where I served guests while preparing deserts. Finally, I worked as the Chick Fil A cow at several events including on stage performances in front of hundreds of people.

Working as a volunteer bike mechanic, I took old, dirty, and broken bikes that were donated to the organization and both cleaned and repaired the bikes to a working state so that they could be donated to the homeless. I did everything from fixing broken chains to truing wheels that spun incorrectly and replacing countless braking systems. Additionally, when the bikes we received were beyond repair, I worked instead on stripping them down for every usable part.
