I've been in the nonprofit sector for 9 years, working with Fund for the Public Interest in a variety of roles. Whether canvass directing or running staffing drives, most of my work has focused on recruitment: identifying passionate, hardworking candidates who are interested in seasonal or career positions working on environmental and public interest campaigns. And it's work I am really proud of: I have overseen the hiring of over 25,000 canvass staff who have knocked on millions of doors in over 40 states across the country, and fundraised $11M for the work we do for a shared vision of a better future. That's resulted in numerous campaign victories for the environment, like banning single-use plastics in 5+ states and passing the nation's first producer responsibility bills; and victories for the public health, like convincing major fast-food chains to stop serving meat raised on the routine use of antibiotics, protecting those medicines and reducing the threat of superbugs.

Lead TutorStudent Support Services At California Lutheran University 2009 - 2012Student Support Services (SSS) at California Lutheran University is a federally-funded grant program that provides assistance to first-generation and income-qualified students as well as students with disabilities. SSS is federally funded to serve 200 students throughout the academic year. The goal of SSS is to increase the retention and graduation rates of those students who are first-generation, low-income, and/or a student with a disability. The program focuses on promoting academic excellence by providing personalized services to students. SSS assists students in successfully graduating from California Lutheran University, and prepares those who are interested, to enter graduate or professional schools upon completing their Baccalaureate Degree.After a year in the position of English tutor, I was promoted to Lead tutor. This promotion included not only maintaining my availability to tutor student in their English courses as well as writing in general, but added on the responsibilities of creating and providing at least one academic workshop per semester, at least one social event per semester, and performing office hours every week.
