I'm a senior biology student at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. About three years ago, I joined the Borda lab as an undergraduate researcher through a NSF S-STEM student research program! My primary focus is contributing to our lab's comparative transcriptomics project on Typhlatya cave shrimp from the Yucatan Peninsula, where I investigate genes that potentially support adaptation to anchialine habitats. In addition to being an S-STEM Scholar, I am privileged to be a member of the President’s Leadership Class and serve as the Organic Chemistry Supplemental Instruction Leader at my school. These roles are particularly meaningful to me as they offer valuable opportunities for collaboration and allow me to actively support my peers in reaching their academic goals!
