As the Lead for Pain BC's Pain Support Line, I apply a clinical and consultative lens through high-touch relationship management to deliver rewarding experiences for clients. Pain BC's Pain Support Line (PSL) aims to support people living with pain by providing a safe space to discuss their pain and access information about community and organizational resources that will help them manage their pain. As the PSL Lead I respond to calls and written requests from clients, connect individuals with helpful resources, respond to client crises, liaise with community stakeholders, train PSL staff, practicum students and volunteers, provide program oversight and create/ implement program developments.

As the Social Worker/ Counselor at Pain BC I provide broad clinical support to the Support Services team. Duties include completing client intakes for the Coaching for Health program, completing frontline work on the Pain Support Line, and facilitating the Making Sense of Pain program. As the Social Worker, I also support with program development projects and public outreach.

As an Assisted Indepdent Living Case Manager with Strive Living Society I managed a case load of 20 clients with various complex health and cognitive challenges (I.e. acquired brain injuries, developmental disabilities, mental health etc.). I supported these individuals to maintain their home share placements with the goal of increasing their ability to live independently and thrive in community.

Provided social work services to Normanna, a long-term care facility which primarily supports persons living with dementia. As the Social Worker, I supported the care team by offering a psychosocial lens and lending expertise in various social services (i.e. income supports, advance care planning, grief supports, etc.) to improve client care.

As the Community Services Coordinator for Greater Vancouver/ Fraser Valley, I supervised, supported, developed, and connected individuals living with MS to the programs and services offered by the MS Society for the Lower Mainland/ Fraser Valley region. Programs I was involved in included Wellness Programs (i.e. yoga classes), Kids Up Front Program, Self Help Groups, and the Friendly Visiting Program. I also supported public awareness and education initiatives by creating educational materials, collaborating with community stakeholders, and event planning.

As the Disaster Management Safety and Wellbeing (SWB) Program Advisor, I worked in collaboration with CRC personnel, including case workers, to provide psychosocial support and protection to BC fire evacuees as part of a team within the mandate of the Canadian Red Cross. This included addressing the immediate psychosocial needs of the disaster affected population, including considerations for special populations and a focus on Indigenous Peoples, as well as building community capacity and resiliency to address longer-term recovery priorities.

As a Relief Counselor, under Shift Leader and Clinicians, I worked to foster a therapeutic environment for youth at-risk in a residential setting. This included, maintaining the use of routines and activities, modeling appropriate behavior, monitoring and working directly with the person served in all aspects of his/her life, and acting on goal-oriented teaching opportunities.

As a practicum student, I conducted psychosocial assessments and supported clients, under the discretion of AHS Social Workers. I also supported the delivery of group-based, psychoeduational programming for people living with pain.

As Recreational Programmer, I encouraged an active lifestyle by planning and facilitating recreation-based programming within the community and in a group-home setting.
