Danielle Espinosa Email and Phone Number
I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Master of Science in Counseling and completed my practicum with the community-based services program at Five Acres in Pasadena, CA. At Five Acres, I provided mental health services for young children and adult survivors of domestic violence using an integrated approach of attachment, CBT, and feminist theories while adhering to the documentation requirements of LAC DMH. My award-winning master's thesis on counseling Asian American female survivors of sexual assault with a concordant understanding of their experiences of racialized sexism has been published by the Asian American Journal of Psychology. I have also spoken on various Asian American-led panels regarding rape culture and Asian American women's experiences with racialized sexual violence.I previously worked for a school-based mental health agency providing therapy services for intermediate school students at Corona Norco Unified School District. I currently work in private practice under Alvarado Family Therapy and co-facilitate the Asian Women & Femmes Peer Wellness Circle in collaboration with Asian Mental Health Project.I am currently a doctorate student in the low-residency Counselor Education and Supervision program at Antioch University, Seattle. As a research fellow through the program and a research assistant at the Social Constructions of Identity Lab through Mount St. Mary's University, I hope to expand current literature on the impacts of colonial mentality and white sexual imperialism on Filipino American psychology as well as the impacts of racialized sexism on Southeast Asian American women. I also hope to continue my research and advocacy for Asian American survivors with an antiracist and decolonial approach to mental health.
