Build, maintain, assemble, and repair cope/drag patterns and core boxes for steel castings according to blueprint and customer specifications. Operate milling machines, wood lathe, band saw, table saw, table router, radial arm saw, orbital sander, disc sander, drill press, and hand tools for tooling wood, metal, or plastic sections of the pattern. Use of precision instruments to verify conformance of patterns to dimensional specifications. Create templates and gauges for checking dimensions, replacing sections, or assembly of a pattern.

Assist in operations of Glass, Ceramics, and Sculpture studios. Maintain and repair the tools, machines and areas of the dimensional studies labs. Assist students and faculty in troubleshooting and construction. Labs consist of a woodshop, cold glass studio, mold making, metalshop, glassblowing studio, bronze foundry, jewelry, and ceramics studio.
