I inform potential new members of our organization and the benefits of joining. I maintain current member involvement throughout the year and plan events with other organizations on campus in order to build lasting partnerships with them. I also assist with planning corporate events, such as career fairs and guest speakers, which has allowed me to create relationships with companies. This position has allowed me to participate in many developmental opportunities like networking and real experience in a professional setting.
Project Manager - Research Coordinator
Each year this organization is assigned a project by our club advisor to allow the club members to gain real-world experience in Human Resources. I helped to organize and run this year’s consulting project to create an interview guide for companies looking to hire customer service employees in State College, PA. I am responsible for organizing and validating research that is done by all members, while also contributing to the final product. This project is completed and available online.
Law Intern
I worked in the labor and employment law office helping the partners and associates with research, Excel graphs, court papers, and any other work that is needed. I also have communicated with the courts, created employee handbooks for clients, digested court hearing transcripts, and sent out subpoenas. The work I completed has been used by clients and in litigation. I have had the opportunity to shadow all of the partners and associates to court hearings, settlements, negotiations, client meetings, and mediations. These experiences have increased my interest in attending law school and have taught me a large amount about labor and employment law.
Data Entry Intern
I track all events that Hillel staff and students host by recording the number of students that attend these events. I take this information and put it into excel and the computer system REACH, which is the official website Hillel International uses to keep track of how involved students are in the Jewish Life on campus. This experience has taught me about the importance of detail and accuracy in my work.
Student Life Commitee Member
I was a member of the Student Life Committee, which is a group of students that worked very closely with the Hillel executive board at Penn State University. I planed fun and educational events all year round for students to get more involved in Jewish Life on campus and I helped organize events for the Jewish Holidays. There are currently 4,000 Jewish students at Penn State and we work our hardest to get everyone as involved as possible.
Birthright Intern
I recruited students to go on Birthright winter and summer programs with Penn State Hillel. Birthright is a free trip to Israel for any Jewish person between the ages of 18-26. I had meetings with various students to discuss my experience on the trip, the details of the opportunity and provided assistance in registering.
Underwriting Intern
I worked in the office doing risk summaries on clients, going on agent visits, working on Excel and helping underwriters in the office. I had the opportunity to shadow many different employees from the company and learn about how the business works from every department. I also traveled to Philadelphia twice during the summer for orientation and to present my final project at the end of the summer. I worked in a virtual group with interns from around the country for 10 weeks by communicating via conference call, video chatting, and emailing while in different time zones. The group worked to create a new product for the company. I researched and presented for 30-minutes on the our new product and the information learned throughout the summer to the office of the CEO.
Assistant Bookkeeper
I worked at SLJ property over the summer in their Bookkeeping office on Long Island.
