1. Assist the Certified School Nurse with daily healthcare of students and faculty.2. Medication Management for students who need administered daily medication 3. Medical Management of Diabetic students including monitoring glucose levels and monitoring student self administration of insulin. 4. Report all office visits in electronic medical records using Sapphire. 5. Distribute and collect health forms.6. FIle miscellaneous forms and notes from parents and teachers, communications from other health professionals for the school nurse to review.7. Administer first aid to students.8. Perform head-checks, re-checks, exclusions, and re-admissions for head lice.9. Assist in completing growth screenings at the direction of the school nurse.10. Maintain treatment and medical management log.11. Assist with care, storage, inventory and requisitions of equipment and supplies.12. Communicate with parents regarding a student’s illness, injury and complete accident reports as needed.

1. Performs specialized procedures, examinations and/or tests as ordered, such as, urinary catheterization. 2 In collaboration with the Physician, reinforces health education, counseling, and advice to patients and families on topics such as healthy lifestyle changes. Effectively assesses patient educational needs, prioritizes patients learning needs, identifies barriers to learning, and uses various educational tools to encourage the non-adherent patient. 3 Tracks, reviews, and monitors the follow-up of diagnostic test results to ensure the physician/APC have verified results and patient has been notified. Provides related education, counseling, ongoing review, and monitoring regarding diagnostic tests under the collaboration of the Physician. Assists in the management of patient care between visits. 4 Assesses patients/callers health status based upon presenting symptoms and follows defined protocols. Determines the urgency for care and directs patient/caller to the most appropriate level of care. Should access not be readily available at the practice, will direct patient/caller to an acceptable alternative venue of care. Seeks Physician advice appropriately. Performs the responsibilities of the Physician Office Nurse as outlined below: 5 Obtains and documents reason for visit and patient vital signs to include both pain scale and pulse oximetry as appropriate. 6 Assists Physician with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care. 7 Collects specimens as directed by Physician. Uses appropriate equipment and protocols for collecting, handling, testing, labeling, and preparing for transportation to the lab including proper identification, storage procedures and techniques.
