Thomas Porteous, Jr. (E.D. La.) in his impeachment trial before the U.S. Senate. All state cases were removed to federal court, all preliminary relief was denied or dismissed, and all of the cases were either sent to binding contractual arbitration, dismissed with prejudice, or otherwise favorably resolved.- Helped advise and defend employees of a large financial institution in connection with investigations conducted by the SEC and New York Attorney General’s Office into business activities related to sub-prime lending, residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), and various structured financial products, including collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) and credit default swaps (CDSs).

Practiced in the areas of complex commercial litigation and bankruptcy, including:- Drafted the argument section of a successful summary judgment motion opposing a $17M breach of fiduciary duty and unfair competition suit;- Obtained relief from an automatic bankruptcy stay and liquidated $650,000 worth of collateral in a private UCC sale;- Conducted depositions of fact witnesses and debtors; and- Examined a witness and argued points of law at an evidentiary hearing.

Supported Senate staff attorneys in evaluating and responding to a variety of policy issues, including the NSA domestic spying program, the Whirlpool and Maytag merger, patent legislation, and oil industry consolidation and rising gas prices.
